TYLER, Texas – The Tyler Junior College Invite will be a tournament that Blinn College volleyball would soon like to forget as the Buccaneers lost to No. 17 Indian Hills Community College 3-1 and Hutchinson Community College 3-0 to close out the tournament Saturday morning in Tyler.

With the pair of losses, Blinn’s overall record falls to 13-12 and its Region XIV record stays at 4-1. The Buccaneers leave the Tyler Junior College Invite with an 0-4 record.

Indian Hills 3 – Blinn 1

Blinn started out on the right path against Indian Hills by taking the first set but Indian Hills rallied to win the next three sets to win 3-1 by the score 23-25, 25-15, 25-21 and 25-20.

Paola Marie Salas Adorno led Blinn with 17 kills with a .294 hitting percentage and added 13 digs while Alexis Kingston added nine kills. Danusia Sipa Borgeaud led the Buccaneers with 24 digs and Ally Lanik finished with 36 assists.

After a rough day at the Tyler Junior College Invite on Friday, Blinn appeared to be heading in the right direction in taking the first set 25-23. Unfortunately, that would be the final set won by the Buccaneers for the rest of the day as Indian Hills rallied for three consecutive sets for the win.

Hutchinson 3 – Blinn 0

Blinn started each set with good momentum but it was Hutchinson that was finishing off the sets and taking the 3-0 sweep by the score 25-19, 25-18 and 25-21.

Adorno led Blinn again in kills with 13 and a .250 hitting percentage while adding 11 digs. Ashleigh Traylor added six kills and 12 digs. Borgeaud earned 10 digs and Lanik dished out 24 assists in the loss.

Blinn will look to rebound with its first match inside the P.E. Building on Tuesday, Oct. 4 against Wharton County Junior College at 6 p.m. The match against Wharton will be the Dig Pink Night.
