Carter holds 'The Pressing Champions' signing and looks ahead to possible third work

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- Hall of Fame basketball coach Johnny Carter was a Carter's Burgers Friday in Bryan hosting a book signing for his newest release 'The Pressing Champions'.

Carter's second book goes into greater detail how he as a young coach in Kennard helped a small East Texas community find a common cause during the early years of integration through the success of his basketball team that won three state championships in four years.

The ink has barley dried on his newest book and Coach Carter is already thinking about penning a 3rd one.

"It would be totally different," said Carter. "I want to do something that is comical. Something about coaching stories and their are millions of them out there. Everybody thinks that coaching is all serious and it is for 32 minutes, (length of high school basketball games), but the rest of the time there is a lot of fun things going on. Lot of stories that happen here and there and I'm kinda thinking about that direction," concluded Carter.

Coach Carter's first book, 'The First Season,' has had four printings.

Kim Lynn who coached basketball in the Brazos Valley at Hearne, Normangee and A&M Consolidated to name a few, stopped by to pick up a book and it sounded like Lynn and Carter were already working on that 3rd book with the stories they were sharing.
