BRYAN, Texas -- The Brazos Valley Cavalry dropped their first points of the season after drawing 3-3 with Mississippi Brilla at Travis Field.

The Cavalry took the lead with their first opportunity of the game. Jon Rico-Contreras launched a throw-in into the penalty area which beat all the Brilla defenders but striker Kyle Edwards was on hand to fire home from close range and grab his 11th goal of the season. The Cavalry doubled their lead just six minutes later when fullback Alejandro Saez was picked out by Devon Boyce before charging into the penalty area and rifling an effort beyond the helpless Alex Iglesias.

The Cavalry looked to be in complete control but just after the half-hour mark Mississippi halved the deficit. After winning a free kick to the left of the penalty area, Mo Kamisasanuki delivered an inch perfect ball into the area and Aurele Chemin met at the front post and flicked on beyond Chase Vosvick. Five minutes later the visitors leveled things with another free kick. This time it was substitute Sandre Olsen who hit a perfect effort goal ward and despite Vosvick’s best efforts he couldn’t deny the Brilla player.

The second half started a tight affair with neither side really able to create anything clear-cut, that was until the 55th minute when Brilla launched a ball into the penalty area and goal scorer Olsen picked out Victor Pimentel on the edge of the area and he rifled a shot home. Going behind spurred Cavalry on and the hosts managed to draw level on 69 minutes. Substitute Jalen Anderson was upended on the edge of the area and Jesse Ortiz stepped up and curled a terrific free kick beyond Alex Iglesias to ensure Cavalry claimed a point.

The Brazos Valley Cavalry return to action on Sunday 30 when they entertain Mississippi Brilla again at Travis Field. Kick-off is at 7.30 p.m.
