News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Grace Lewis. The Snook High School Senior has a 5.2 GPA, and is currently ranked number one in her class.
“For Grace I think one of her strongest characteristics is that she's not willing to not try. She's sharp as a tack, and she can usually figure out anything that is ever presents itself as a challenge. And she's always willing to give it a go. I think that a lot of students struggle with that, but she doesn't. If she falls, she picks herself right back up and she figures out how to accomplish every goal that she set for herself.” Michelle Bond, Teacher.
Grace is the Co-Captain of the Lady Jay basketball team. As well as the Cheerleading captain and a member of the softball and track teams at Snook. In sports, Grace has been an All-District and All-Academic selection in volleyball, basketball, and softball and she was also named the District Defensive MVP in volleyball as a Libero. Outside of sports, Grace is involved with the National Honor Society, SPJST, Snook 4-H, and she’s the President of FFA. Currently, Grace is the reigning State SPJST Queen, as well as the Burleson County Fair Queen.
“Grace's leadership has actually changed over the years. I think you know, when she was younger she was a little more reserved and held back a little bit. But she's intelligent; so she was always doing the right thing, her work ethics great. So I think she started out, with me coaching her, she was more of a leader by example. But I've seen her grow and progress into more of a verbal leader.” Micah Goebel, Coach.
“Growing up with two older siblings who are very active in all the sports and all the organizations I participate in. It was kind of natural for to take that leader instinct. But also, with all the organizations I participated in...There are many younger members that I've had to be a positive role model to and so I think with that, it's really helped me become a greater leader.” says Lewis.
After High School, Grace will attend Texas A&M University's Mays Business School. While there, she will be double majoring in Ag Communications and Business.
Congratulations to Grace Lewis of Snook High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
