News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, KJ Macik. The Snook High School Senior has a 4.9 GPA, and is currently ranked third in his class.
“KJ seems to handle his pressure well even though he might be stressed on the inside, he stays cool and calm and collected on the outside. He has the ability to balance the athletics, and the sports, and the games, and the late nights and making sure that he completes all of his work and does it properly. And I think there's a really nice balance there.” Michelle Bond, Teacher.
KJ is a member the BlueJay football, basketball, and baseball teams at Snook. KJ has been an All-District selection in all three sports. In football, he was the Offensive MVP as a freshman and this past season, he was named the Defensive MVP of the district. He was also the Defensive MVP in Baseball his junior season. Outside of sports, KJ is involved with the National Honor Society, SPJST, Snook 4-H, FFA, and he's the Senior Class President. In his spare time, KJ enjoys hunting and fishing.
“His parents....Just seeing their relationship and knowing their work ethic. I think it's just probably something that's been instilled in him since he was young. He's just a guy that is committed to excellence in football, or basketball, or baseball and then also in the classroom. He's a guy that demands a lot out of himself. I feel like he's harder on himself sometimes than we as coaches or teachers or other people.” Chase Seelke, Coach.
“This year leading for me would have to be the easiest of the four years. Being older than most of them they kind of see me as there elder, and listen to me. I’ve experienced a few more things than them. What motivates me to work as hard as I do would have t be my two younger siblings. They look at me 24/7...They're always watching. So, setting a good example is something I always try to do for my two younger siblings.” says Macik.
After High School, KJ plans on attending Texas A&M University and majoring in Accounting.
Congratulations to KJ Macik of Snook High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
