Classroom Champions-Natalie Philipello

News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Natalie. The Franklin High School Senior has a 4.3 GPA, and is currently ranked number two in her class.

“So, she has a work ethic to study outside of class when she needs to. She doesn't require somebody to kind of watch over her shoulder to get stuff done and you can see that in her grades. Her grades reflect the fact that she's done some work outside of the classroom and that to a large degree, she pays pretty close attention in the classroom to notes when we're taking them or to activities, labs, when we go through that process.”- Jesse Cope, Teacher.

Natalie participates in Cross Country, Track, and Cheerleading at Franklin High School. In Cross Country and track, she's been a Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State selection and a State Qualifier. In cheerleading, Natalie has received Texas Girls Coaches Association Academic All-State honors as well as UCA and NCA All-American honors. Outside of sports, Natalie is involved in the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society, and she is the Secretary for the Student Council and she's also the Vice President of FCCLA. In her spare time, Natalie enjoys spending time with family and friends, and watching Netflix.

“The most impressive thing to me is just her performing her best at the biggest meets. Some kids buckle under the pressure, and she seems to really shine. She does a great job of coming from behind and accomplishing whatever...Going to catch people at the end of a race and it always seems to happen at the right time, at the biggest races when she peaks.”- Quentin Lankford, Coach.

“I think that I lead by example. I don't like to order people around because I don't think that's how people respond the best. I think showing people what to do and you doing it yourself, is a better way to lead.” Says Philipello.

After High School, Natalie plans on attending Texas A&M University, and she will major in Biology in hopes to one day become a Medical Geneticist.

Congratulations to Natalie Philipello of Franklin High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
