The College Station Cougars will open defense of their Division I 7 on 7 state title on Friday at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station. The Cougars beat A&M Consolidated 20-19 last year to win the title.

College Station will begin pool play on Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. The Cougars are in Pool G with El Paso Parkland, Richardson Pearce and Laredo United. College Station will face Parkland in their tournament opener. The Cougars will have a target on their back as they look to make it back to back championships. College Station linebacker Michael Medlin said, "There's always going to be pressure if you're defending a state championship, also having the tournament in College Station so there's a bunch of teams kind of hunting us down." Austin Sosa who plays quarterback and wide receiver for the Cougars said, "We're just here for chemistry because we have a bunch of young guys coming up and improving with their spots. We just have to get our chemistry down."

The Division I state tournament will wrap up on Saturday afternoon with the championship game at 3:00 p.m.
