The College Station Lady Cougar soccer team defeated Katy Paetow Friday night 8-0 to improve to 4-0 in district and 12-3-1 overall.
The Cougars opened the scoring 5 minutes into the match when Kingsley Cashion's pass found Olivia Riechman open behind the Paetow backline. Riechman beat the goalie with a low shot to the back post.
At the 30:47 mark, Taylor Deuel scored off of a rebound to put the Cougs up 2-0. Riechman notched her second goal of the match 30 seconds later, with the assist coming from Reese Garratt.
Twelve minutes later, Kayla Vasquez won the ball inside the 18 and scored on a nice shot to the back post to put the Cougs up by four.
Just before halftime, Riechman earned a hat trick with the assist coming from Vasquez. In the second half, Deuel had three assist; two were corner kicks that Zoe Bullard headed in and Riechman scored the other. Keira Herron recorded the shutout in goal for the Cougs.
In JV action, College Station defeated Paetow 6-0. Scoring for the Cougs were Kenedy Baker (2), Ashlyn Turner (2), Sarah Del Rio, and Adi Palacios on a penalty kick. Turner and Kaydence O’Leary notched assists. College Station moves to 5-0, 4-0 in district.
Next action for College Station will be Tuesday night at home against A&M Consolidated. JV will play at 5:00 p.m., followed by the varsity at 7:00 p.m.
