College Station girls soccer shuts out Waller

WALLER, Texas (KBTX) -- The College Station Lady Cougar soccer team went on the road Friday night to defeat Waller 8-0, improving to 3-0 in district and 10-3-1 overall.

With 15 minutes left in the first half, Claire Gatlin played wide to Kayla Vasquez who found Reese Garratt open at the top of the 18. Garratt turned and fired a nice shot high over the goalie. At the 9:05 mark, Lauren Puckett's indirect into the box found the head of Olivia Riechman who redirected the ball into the goal to make the score 2-0 entering halftime. Early in the second half, Taylor Deuel pounced on a deflection and scored the third goal of the match. A few minutes later Deuel's cross found Vasquez on the back post. Vasquez slid the ball past the goalie to increase the Cougar lead to 4-0. Puckett scored off of a rebound at the 24:37 mark for the 5th goal. Garratt then netted her second goal of the match to put the Cougs up 6-0. Reichman scored her second with Deuel getting the assist. The final goal was scored by Elisabeth Leftwich. Kiera Herron had the shutout in goal.

In JV action, College Station defeated Waller 3-0. Scoring for the Cougs were Adi Palacios, Kenedy Baker, and Ashlyn Turner. Shai Rogers recorded the shutout in goal. The JV moves to 4-0, 3-0 in district. Next action for the Cougs will be Tuesday night at home against Brenham. The JV will be at 5, varsity at 7.
