College Station holds of late Consol rally to win 'Sametown Showdown' opener 8-5

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- The College Station baseball team made the short drive over to A&M Consolidated High School Tuesday evening for the first of two games this week against the Tigers.

College Station scored a pair of runs in the second inning and then added to its advantage in the third on Cole Marler's squibbler toward third that the pitcher Brandon Buche has to field and his throw home is not in time to get Brandon Williams as the Cougars lead it 3-0.

A&M Consolidated will score a pair of runs in the 4th to close the College Station lead to 4-2. The Tigers first run coming on a David Pugh ground ball to second. College Station pitcher Josh Alexander is forced to cover the bag and is late getting there allowing Justin Conrad to score making it 3-1. Consol's second run came on a double steal.

College Station will score three more in the 5th and two more in the 6th and go onto beat A&M Consolidated 8-5.

The rematch will take place on Friday at Cougar Field. First pitch is set for 7pm.
