BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- The College Station Lady Cougar soccer team defeated the Bryan Vikings 3-0 Friday night at Merrill Green Stadium to improve to 9-0 in
district and 16-1-2 overall.
At the 17:52 mark of the first half Olivia Riechman headed the ball to herself, beat 2 defenders, and crossed the ball ball across the face of the goal to Hailey Daniel, whose shot beat the goalie high for the first goal of the match. Early in the second half Daniel was fouled 25 yards outside the penalty box giving the Cougs a direct kick. Kate Hinckley shot around the wall and beat the Viking goalie low to put the Cougars up 2-0. Late in the half, Riechman was fouled inside the penalty area giving the Cougs a penalty kick. Hinckley stepped to the spot and beat the goalie with a low driven shot to end the scoring for the evening. The win gives the Cougars their 6th straight district championship.
In JV action, the Lady Cougars beat the Lady Vikings by a score of 4-0. The scoring got started on a goal by Olivia Fox that was assisted by Caitlyn Bachman. Bachman played a 20 yard thru ball to Fox who beat a defender to score the goal. The second goal was scored off a well placed shot off the post from Reese Garratt.
Her goal was assisted Lauren Hanik. The third goal was scored off a Macy Nugent corner kick that was rebounded back to her self and put in the back of the next from the corner. The final goal was scored by Adi Palacios when Christina Choi played her a rebound inside the penalty area.
Next up will be a home game on Thursday against Rudder where the Class of 2018 will be honored. JV is at 5, with the varsity following at 7.
