Stoney Pryor/College Station HS The College Station Lady Cougar soccer team improved to 6-0 in district play and 13-3-1 overall with a 4-1 over the A&M Consolidated Tigers Tuesday night at Cougar Field.
At the 15:00 mark of the first half, a Consolidated defender had a handball in the penalty area. On the ensuing penalty kick, Kingsley Cashion beat the goalie with a high shot inside the right post to give the Cougs a 1-0 lead.
The Cougs struck again five minutes later, when Taylor Deuel's corner kick found Olivia Riechman at the six. Riechman rose above the defender before bearing a header past the goalie for a 2-0 halftime lead.
The Tigers got one back early in the second half, scoring off of a corner kick. The Cougs struck 20 seconds later to go up by two goals when Vasquez beat the goalie with a low cross to the back post. Deuel was chasing hard on the back side and was able to knock it in.
At the 30:52 mark of the second half, Riechman scored the final goal of the match with Reese Garratt getting the assist.
The JV defeated the Tigers 4-0 to improve to 6-0 in district and 7-0 overall. Cougar goals were scored by Ashlyn Turner (3) and Frida Ramirez. Kaydence O'Leary and Turner had assists.
Next up for the Cougars will be Magnolia Friday night in Magnolia. JV will play at 5:00 and the Varsity will play at 7:00.
