The College Station Lady Cougar soccer team defeated Katy Paetow 9-0 Friday night at Cougar Field to improve to 9-0-3 in district play and 16-3-4 on the season.
The Cougs started 8 minutes in when Kayla Vasquez scored with the assist coming from Lauren Puckett and Olivia Riechman. Riechman netted the second Cougar goal when she dribbled past four Katy players before sliding the ball past the goalie. Reese Garratt made the score 3-0 when she scored from close range with Riechman getting the assist. The Cougs went up 4-0 when Kingsley Cashion's 30 yard through ball found Riechman just outside the box, Riechman placed her shot just out of the reach of the diving goalie. Riechman got her third goal of the half with Cashion getting the assist. The sixth goal of the half was setup by Riechman, this time with Cashion getting the goal.
The second half begin with Reichman getting her fourth goal of the match just 2 minutes in, with Puckett getting the assist. Kayla Vasquez and Olivia Fox scored the other two Cougar goals to make the final 9-0.
The JV defeated Paetow 6-0 to move to 12-0 in district and 16-0 overall. Goals were scored by Robin Loopstra, Sarah Del Rio (2), Kenedy Baker (2), and Adi Palacios. Palacios, Baker, Kaydence O’Leary, and Reese Maxwell recorded assists. Shai Rogers had the shutout in goal.
The Lady Cougars’ next match up will be against A&M Consolidated on March 19 at Consol. The JV will play at 5 with varsity following at 7.
