COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The A&M Tigers defeated the Bryan Vikings 5-3 at Tiger Field on Friday night in their second game of the Outback Invitational. A solid pitching performance by Sophomore Jack Hamilton, timely hitting, and an error free night put the Tigers in a great position to get the win.
The Vikings had an opportunity in the first inning when their leadoff batter ripped a single and was able to get into scoring position several pitches later. However, Hamilton was able to strike out two batters in the inning to end the Viking threat.
The Tigers answered in the bottom of the first, but this time they made the most of their opportunity to pull ahead when Justin Conrad ripped a two-out single scoring Brandon Bishop and Jack Hamilton. The game was tied at three with Consol batting in the bottom of the fifth when Daniel Altman singled on a 1- 2 count, scoring one run.
Hamilton got the start, lasting four innings and allowing two hits, one run, and striking out four. Jackson Newkham and Daniel Pugh closed the game out for the Tigers on the mound.
Ty Hodge went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Tigers in hits.
