COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The A&M Consolidated girls placed second overall and the boys took third at the 5A Region V swimming and diving championships at Texas A&M Saturday.
The Tigers got the meet off to a great start by winning both the girls and boys 200 medley relays. The girls relay team, made up of Kaitlyn Owens, Sydney Criscitiello, Emma Edmondson, and Kaleigh Waguespack, won the event in 1:49.54. The boys team, consisting of Andrew Zhang, Eric Xiao, Michael Peng, and James Rude, won in 1:35.73.
The girls also placed second in the 200 Freestyle relay and third in the 400 Freestyle relay, while the boys took third in both.
Individually Owens placed second in the 100 Freestyle and won the 100 Backstroke. Zhang was second in the 100 Butterfly and third in the 100 Backstroke.
The Tigers will be well represented at the State meet in Austin starting February 15.
