Corbelli resigns as Texas A&M Volleyball Coach

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Laurie Corbelli, Texas A&M University's head volleyball coach since 1993, announced today that she has resigned as head coach. The Aggies finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 10-15, placing ninth in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) standings with a 7-11 mark.

"I want to thank Laurie for her incredible commitment to A&M over the last 25 years," said Scott Woodward, Director of Athletics at Texas A&M. "Along with her husband, John, she impacted the lives of hundreds of student athletes and her legacy will carry on for years to come. We wish them both well."

"We would like to thank John David Crow, Lynn Hickey and Wally Groff for bringing us to Aggieland in 1993. Under the direction of Corbelli and her husband, associate head coach John Corbelli, Texas A&M posted a record of 519 wins with 252 losses (.673 winning percentage), including a 77-33 (.700) record in six seasons of SEC action. The Aggies made 20 NCAA Tournament appearances under Corbelli's leadership, including six consecutive seasons from 2011-16, and earned an SEC championship in 2015. The Aggies finished the season ranked in the nation's top 25 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll 11 times under Corbelli's leadership, twice since 2005.

Prior to that, Corbelli led the Aggies in the Big 12 Conference, posting a record of 192-124 (.608) in 16 seasons of Big 12 play. In 32 years as a head coach, Corbelli has led programs at three schools: San Francisco, Santa Clara, and Texas A&M.

As a player, Corbelli earned a silver medal on the United States' volleyball team at the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In addition to her duties at A&M, Corbelli served USA Volleyball as head coach of the U.S. Women's Junior National Team in 2015 and 2016, leading the 2016 USA squad to a silver medal at the NORCECA Women's U20 Continental Championship. Prior to A&M, Corbelli served as head coach for four seasons at the University of San Francisco (1986-89) and three seasons at Santa Clara (1990-92).
