Fisher says Mond still his starter despite 2 game skid

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- Any quarterback and head coach knows that their decisions are looked at with lots of scrutiny and second guessing and that happens a lot when teams are struggling like the Aggies are of late.

Aggie sophomore quarterback Kellen Mond has kinda hit a lull over the last couple of weeks statically. While he's thrown for over 450 yards against Mississippi State and Auburn. He's only been responsible for 2 touchdowns while throwing a pair of interceptions in both losses.

Mond is said to be a pretty good running quarterback, but has only rushed for 33 yards on his last 27 carries.

While the numbers say one thing, Coach Fisher still believes in number 11 as his starter.

"1000 percent and the tape says so. We all get caught up looking at the guy with the ball and not the cause of the play and look at why things are. About four of five plays in the game you wish he'd done well," said Fisher.

Saturday the Aggies will face the Ole Miss Rebels looking to snap a two game losing streak.

The Rebels have won three of the last four games against the Aggies including their last meeting at Kyle Field in 2016 when the Aggies lost 29-28 thanks to a Gary Wunderlick 39 yard field goal with 37 seconds left in the game.

Kickoff is set for 11am. The game will be broadcast on KBTX-TV (CBS).
