DALLAS, Tex. (KBTX) - A former Texas A&M football player has been convicted of killing a North Texas jogger nearly four years ago.

After closing arguments that barely lasted 5 minutes, for both the prosecution and defense, the jury found Thomas Johnson guilty murdering David Stevens on a running trail in East Dallas.

Prosecutors say Johnson hit Stevens at least a dozen times in the head, and confessed to doing it the day the crime happened in October of 2015.

Defense attorneys are using Johnson's mental health for the punishment phase that is underway right now. He played wide receiver for the Aggies in 2012.
