Hometown Heroes: Anderson-Shiro Owls

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- Anderson-Shiro looks to their third coach in three years to help them return to the playoffs. Brad Hodges, who served as an assistant in 2016, takes over the Owls in his first head coaching job.

He will have just two starters returning on offense, but six coming back on defense. Hodges said, “Kreese Milligan and Chase Werner are returning defensive starters we expect big things from. Dairus Bookman and Andrew Seaback will both be looked at to help lead the offense.” A new coach means a new style of play, and the Owls will have to adjust. “We expect to be competitive in the first year of learning a new offensive and defensive scheme,” said Hodges.

Anderson-Shiro opens with a tough non-district schedule that features four teams that had winning records in 2016. “Beckville and Lovelady are both very strong teams out of the gate. We also have a tough rivalry game with Iola early on and Buffalo will be good again at the end of the season,” Hodges said.
