The Cubs will make a run at the 20-5A title with five starters back on offense and eight returning on defense. Head coach Glen West said, “Depth at skill positions and team speed will be our strengths. We need to work on consistency in the passing game and giving up big plays on defense.”

The passing game will be headed by dual-threat senior Kendarin Ray, who should improve after his first full season under center. Giddings transfer Treveon Johnson and Monterrious Moore will be big weapons in the passing game, and West says running back Timacrus McWilliams is, “a big play threat at RB or the slot.” The Brenham defense hopes to get better after giving up nearly 29 points per game a year ago. “Tyree Jackson and Eryk Preston are all over the field and can make a lot of tackles. Treveon Johnson and Andre Gilmore have great ball skills. Shannon Lambert is a load inside and Andrew Batchman is a two year returning starter at defensive end.”

The Cubs have high expectations once again and hope to compete for the district title. West said, “District will be very tough. Every game will be competitive and tough to win. Each district game could come down to the end and who can make the big plays at critical points of the game.”
