BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- The Eagles are poised to win another district title and make a deep playoff run in 2017. Lexington head coach Kirk Muhl lists experience as his teams biggest strength, and it starts on offense where the Eagles return eight starters on an attack that scored 60 or more points eight times a year ago.
District Offensive MVP Walker Hess is back at quarterback and will have the luxury of playing behind four returning starters on the offensive line and also has three experienced wide receivers to throw to.
Eight starters are also back on defense, four that earned all-district honors a year ago.
Once again, the Eagles will have a tough start to the season. “Mart and Rockdale will both be really good,” said Muhl. The Eagles dominated district play a year ago, winning their five games by an average of 54.4 points per contest, and will be the favorites to bring home the trophy again and reach the playoffs for the third year in a row.
