Rudder will look to new head coach Greg Morgan, just the third in program history, to help them try to turn things around. Morgan was out of coaching in 2016, but spent the previous 20 as a head coach, the majority of them in Madisonville.

He will have plenty of work ahead of him as he tries to get the Rangers to the playoffs for the first time. Morgan said, “We will need to have a total mindset change; mental and physical toughness and numbers.” Some key players back on offense include running back Kevonte Johnson and receivers Jaden Luna and Giovanni Madison.

The defense will have a trio of returning linebackers in Chris Daniels, Thomas Carter, and Hunter Norris. CJ Wilson and Jakobe Nutall will provide experience on the line. “Overall quickness will be a strength of our team,” said Morgan.

The Rangers have a tough non-district schedule before they get into 18-5A play, as all four teams made the playoffs a year ago. “The whole season will be a challenge,” said Morgan. “We expect to compete in every game and challenge for a playoff spot.”
