Hunter Coleman feels SEC Tournament play has team motivated for Morgantown

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- The Texas A&M baseball team will open up NCAA Tournament play on Friday against Duke at the Morgantown Regional.

Texas A&M first baseman Hunter Coleman is back in the line up after an injury plagued junior campaign and he says the team is ready to get going after a lack luster performance at the SEC Tournament.

"I don't think we played our best baseball there or our best brand of baseball. I think that is going to carry over, give us a little motivation going into the postseason, going into the Morgantown Regional. That definitely is going to help us and push us to be better," said Coleman

Coleman has had a tough junior season. He's suffered a knee injury early on and then broke his arm in the Missouri series on a throw to first. After sitting out the last six weeks or so he's returned to the lineup playing in the last five games.

At the SEC Tournament Hunter had a hit and drove in a run.

"It will be not in time. Ty Coleman tags up and scores the first run of the game."

That run was his brother Ty Coleman who is a freshman on the team and old high school team-mate.

"We played in high school together. It was a lot different than it is now. I have been able to see him grow up and kind of go through the adversity that comes with your first college season and seeing him mold and develop into the player he is now. I'm just really proud of what he's gone through and he has taken it. It's real cool," added the A&M junior first baseman.

"As Coleman throws to Coleman."

While Hunter has another season to play with his brother next year. He has probably seen more Aggie baseball than any other player on the team. 20 years ago his dad David was an assistant coach and Hunter was in the stands behind home plate soaking in alot of baseball knowledge when he wasn't playing with his toys or haming it up for the cameras.

"Those are some of my first memories that I actually remember. I would wear a uniform to every game and sit behind home plate, run the bases after every game. I got a lot of good memories here," concluded Hunter.

The Aggies will leave for Morgantown Wednesday and KBTX Sports Jessica Gruenling will begin her onsite reporting on Thursday.
