Lechler leaving Snook after best season in program history

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- Snook Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Chad Lechler has resigned his post with the district. Lechler came to Snook in 2015 after being an assistant coach in Brenham.

He coached the Bluejays for four seasons leading Snook to the playoffs twice and posting a pair of playoff wins.

Last year Snook enjoyed their best season ever with a 9 and 3 record - finishing 2nd in District 14-2A Division II behind Burton.

Coach Lechler leaves after a 20 and 23 overall record with the Jays and told KBTX Sports Wednesday afternoon it was tough decision and that he is pursuing opportunities outside of education.

Snook ISD Superintendent Brenda Krchnak said Tuesday afternoon she hopes to have Lechler's replacement hired sometime in March.
