Bryan, Texas -- Throughout three starts this season, Chase Maddux had pitched well enough to get the win. But somehow, on each night, that coveted first win avoided him until tonight where Maddux left no question, tossing the first complete game for the Bombers this season in a 7-3 win over the Texas Marshals.
Maddux held the Marshals lineup at bay and without a hit until the 5th inning, but the Texas hitters couldn't keep up with what the UNLV rebel had going.
With all of his pitches working, especially his changeup, Maddux let his defense work with only 4 strikeouts on the entire night, utilizing the ground ball and fly-outs.
But with all of the dominance on the mound, two more aspects of the game were overshadowed as the Bombers had their most complete game of the season.
The defense was phenominal with some extraordinary plays from Jared Mang, Chandler Morris, and John Grimsley, diving around the all-turf field at Nutrabolt and making things easy behind Chase Maddux.
Then from the dish, the Bombers had a pair of moon-shots off the bat of Chase Calabuig in the 1st inning, and Chris Andritsos in the 6th inning. Both of which were two of the longest hit balls the Bombers had seen all season.
With the win, the Bombers start the season 5-0 against the Marshals and their 3 game lead in the TCL standings with a 15-6 record on the 2017 campaign.
The Bombers face the Marshals again Tuesday night as they look for their first sweep in 3 series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm sday and you can catch the pre-game show starting at 6:45pm all on Willy 1550, and radioaggieland.com.
