MADISONVILLE, Texas (KBTX) - The Madisonville Mustangs swept the Hillsboro Eagles 1-0 and 10-0 in bi-district baseball action, Friday, from Madisonville High School.

Game 1 of the series turned into a pitchers dual. The Mustangs got on the board early as Ben Phillips hit a sacrifice fly to right field to plate home Sam Bennett for the early 1-0 lead.

Hillsboro's best chance to score in Game 1 came in the sixth with runners at the corners. However, Mustang hurler Blake Rudis rose to the occasion, fanning Hillsboro's Spencer Garcia to quell the threat. Rudis was masterful in Game 1, blanking the Eagles while giving up only three hits, walking one and striking out 10.

Madisonville will face Taylor in the area round.
