No. 7 Texas A&M poised for Top-10 showdown at No. 2 Florida

The No. 7 Texas A&M men's tennis team faces its ninth top-25 team of the season as they take on No. 2 Florida (16-2, 8-0) Sunday at 11 a.m. (CT) at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Center. The Aggies (17-3, 7-0 SEC) and Gators face off for sole possession of first place in the SEC standings.

The Maroon & White return to action after winning their last 14 matches, including a perfect 7-0 start to the SEC season. The Aggies won their 21st straight regular season SEC match as they defeated No. 18 South Carolina, 5-2, in Columbia on Friday night. In addition to the doubles points, the Aggies secured singles wins from No. 62 Hady Habib, No. 32 Valentin Vacherot, No. 76 Barnaby Smith and Austin Abbrat against the Gamecocks.

In the current 14-match win streak the Aggies have gone 6-0 against Top-25 teams. During the streak A&M sophomore Smith has gone 11-1 while Habib has posted a 10-2 mark and Vacherot has tallied nine victories. Sophomores Aguilar and Habib have led the team with four ranked wins on the doubles courts.

Following the matchup against the Gators the Aggies take on Kentucky in Lexington on Thursday before returning to College Station for a showdown against Vanderbilt on Saturday.
