NORMANGEE, Tex. (KBTX) - The Normangee Panthers (1-1) won the Highway 39 Throwdown Friday night with a 26-13 win over rival Iola (1-1) at Panther Stadium.
The two schools are not in the same district once again, but they still keep each other on the non-district schedule.
Normangee would get on the scoreboard first, thanks to the Bulldogs who snapped it over the head of their quarterback for a safety.
That put the Panthers up by two early...and that would be the only score in the first quarter.
Early in the 2nd though, the Panthers would come alive.
Izaha Jones slips a short pass to Luke Yellot, he takes it in 40 yards for a Normangee touchdown..their first of the game.
On the next drive, Iola would try to get their offense going, but Tyler Vaught is there with the nice pick for the Panthers.
He takes it in for another touchdown.
Iola would get on the board later, but it wasn't enough.
Final score: Iola 13, Normangee 26
Both teams move to 1-1 on the season.
Normangee will look to get two in a row when they travel to Lovelady next week.
Meanwhile, Iola will try to get back in the win column back at home when they host Anderson-Shiro.
