COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M football team held their first practice of preseason camp on Thursday afternoon. The team worked out on the Coolidge Grass Practice Fields.
Aggie head coach Jimbo Fisher met with the media following practice and said there was good effort and good tempo at practice. Texas A&M will play their first game of the 2109 season in four weeks against Texas State at Kyle Field. One of the priorities for Fisher and his coaching to staff is to find out what kind of team they have. Fisher said, "Find the best 11 on each side and then find their backups. I'm serious. That's really what it is." Fisher added, "Figure out who we are and what we can do who we can count on and what we do daily and who's going to be the guy you can count on day in and day out."
Texas A&M defensive lineman Justin Madubuike told the media after practice that the Unity Council decided the entire team is going to turn off social media for fall camp to help focus. Madubuike said, "We're just trying to stay away from the phones and more in the playbooks really, just for this fall camp time. When it's over you can socialize and do your thing but now it's just zone in time for us."
The Aggies are scheduled to return to the practice field on Friday afternoon. They will put on pads for the first time in camp on Monday.
