Texas A&M shoots par-or-better for fourth time in five rounds

ARGYLE, Texas – Texas A&M’s women’s golf team shot par-or-better for the fourth time in five rounds with an even-par 288 in the second round of the Bruzzy Challenge at Lantana Golf Club. With their eighth par-or-better round of the season, the Aggies surpass last season’s total and have the third-most in program history.

Katie Finley and Courtney Dow each turned in a 1-under 71 during the Aggies’ afternoon round on the opening day of the tournament. Finley is tied for 35th at 1-over par, and Dow is tied for 50th at 3-over, notching a tournament-high 29 pars. The second round marked Dow’s 28th career par-or-better round, moving her to seventh place on Texas A&M’s all-time list.

The Aggies started the day with a 10-over 298 before shooting even-par on the second trip through the par 72 / 6,421-yard course that rates as one of the top 50 in Texas. Texas A&M is tied for 11th place, chasing tournament leader Ole Miss at 18-under par. Individually, Texas Tech’s Sofia Garcia leads the tournament at 9-under par.

Ava Schwienteck played the four par-5s at Lantana Golf Club at 5-under par Monday, and is in the tie for 50th place at 3-over par. Amber Park is 4-over and tied for 54th place after shooting 75-73. Brooke Tyree is tied for 69th at 10-over, and playing as an individual, Chloe Velasco is 66th at 7-over.
