The 'Spirit of Aggieland' was big reason President Bush picked Texas A&M for library location

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- On April 8, 2003, President George H.W. Bush attended a spring football practice at Texas A&M and head coach Dennis Franchione called up the team that afternoon to hear a quick pep talk from the former Commander in Chief.

President Bush didn't talk to the team longer, but wrapped things up by telling the team how proud he was of how they represented Texas A&M on the football team and then got a little choked up when explaining to them why a Yale graduate would chose Texas A&M to locate his Presidential Library.

"The main reason was the Aggie Spirit. We feel it in our library. We feel it every time we see you guys in action out there so good luck to you guys out there!" said President Bush.
