Three Blinn volleyball players earn first-team all-conference honors

Three Blinn College volleyball team players were selected for Region XIV first-team all-conference honors in 2016.

Alexis Kingston, Paola Marie Salas Adorno, and Ally Lanik each were named first-team all-conference while Kayla Valigura earned second-team honors. Danusia Sipa Borgeaud, Eboni Mitchell, Britny Mitchell and Amina Olajuwon were named honorable mention.

Kingston, a sophomore outside hitter, led the Buccaneers in kills with 390 and was second on the team in digs with 354. She also earned 89 blocks.

Adorno missed eight matches in her freshman season due to injury, but ranked second on the team with 365 kills and third in digs with 336. Adorno made the record books with 26 kills in a match against Panola College, which tied the Buccaneer record for the most kills in a single match.

As a sophomore setter, Lanik led the team with 890 assists and added 211 digs. Lanik tied for the sixth-most assists in a match in school history with 57 against Tyler Junior College.

As a freshman middle blocker, Valigura earned 128 kills and 122 blocks in 39 matches. Borgeaud made the switch to libero during her sophomore season and led Blinn with 559 digs. Eboni Mitchell earned 173 kills in her sophomore season at outside hitter and added 51 blocks. Britny Mitchell delivered 113 kills as a freshman outside hitter while Olajuwon earned 148 kills and 112 blocks as a freshman middle blocker.

Blinn finished the season with an 18-22 overall record and was third in Region XIV South with a 6-4 conference record.
