Texas A&M student Jason Castro didn't have to wait long to find out he was still a part of America's highest rated television program.
The American Idol contestant was the first of the final five singers to be brought to the stage, where he learned from host Ryan Seacrest that he had won enough votes to remain in the competition.
Castro sang "Forever in Blue Jeans" and "September Morn" during two days of shows in tribute to Neil Diamond. The show's judges used "OK" and "forgetable" to describe Castro's outings.
Contestants Brooke White and Syesha Mercado were in the bottom two Wednesday night, with White leaving the competition with the fewest votes.
A&M students gathered Tuesday night in the Memorial Student Center's flag room to watch their fellow Aggie compete.
