Bryan ISD Recruits Teachers From Mexico

The first day of school is a big day for students, but for some teachers today was their first time in a classroom.

Celeste Lopez, a second grade teacher from Monterrey, Mexico, moved to Bryan three weeks ago.

Today was her first day at Crockett Elementary School. Bryan ISD has a transfer program with a university in Mexico to recruit new teachers. Lopez's first language is Spanish, so she can help students who are learning English better acclimate to school.

"I want o make them feel good in the classroom and confident as a person and just let them know that they can achieve anything that they want," says Lopez.

Bryan ISD say they have hire anywhere from 8 to 12 teachers each year from Mexico.
