Bryan Firefighter Ricky Mantey, Jr. Back on the Job

By  |

BRYAN - Bryan firefighter Rickey Mantey Junior returned to work Tuesday, more than two years after he was severely burned during a fire at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Fellow firefighter Mitch Moran was also injured in that February 2013 incident. Lieutenants Gregory Pickard and Eric Wallace were killed.

The fire department says Mantey is on light duty for now. So he's not fighting fires just yet. Chief Randy McGregor says Mantey will help lead a new training program.

"We're very excited," said Chief McGrgegor "Glad to have him back in the station."

Mantey has several more surgeries ahead of him, but he has not given up on his goal of returning to full duty.
