Franklin, Robertson County and the entire region will remember an Army sergeant killed in the line of duty.
Funeral services for Sgt. Scott Burgess are set for 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Franklin.
Burgess, 32, was killed on April 4 in the Faryab Province of Afghanistan when a man dressed as an Afghani police officer opened fired and killed him and a fellow soldier.
A member of the Future Farmers of America, Burgess attended Franklin High School. He was married with two children.
Following the service, there are reports that a so-called Line of Respect will be created by people wishing the family well. That will run from Franklin to Wheelock, where Burgess is to be buried.
