It started in the backyard of a home off Steele Store Road, near Highway 21.
The windy conditions and low water levels in the area didn't help responding fire crews contain the flames and smoke easily.
Brazos County Precinct 4, College Station Fire and South Brazos County fire all responded to the scene.
Joe Fairchild, with Brazos County Fire Precinct 4, said, "Very important to get these contained as quickly as possible, especially with the high wind that we're having today, the embers off the fire can light up a grassfire a quarter mile down the road."
The cause of the fire is still not known.
