Ready, Set, Shop: Everything You Need to Know About Tax Free Weekend

By  |

Texas' tax free weekend begins 12:01 am Friday, August 7th, through midnight, Sunday, August 9th.

Clothing, shoes, and backpacks under $100 are tax free. Most school supplies are included in the exemption, except for computers, textbooks and software.

For any athletes out there looking to buy pads or cleats, those are not included in this weekend's tax free items.
Also not included accessories like luggage, purses, wallets and watches.

You can place items on layaway this weekend, too, and it will still count as tax fee on the date you purchase it. So if payday is next Friday but you want to shop this weekend, don't worry you're still covered.

These qualifications also apply to products on online or in catalogs if the seller is in Texas.

For a complete list of tax free items and exemptions you can visit the Texas Comptroller's website.
