One Texas police officer has been fired and six others are on suspension after a patrol car wreck and a DWI charge following a house party.
Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo says Ofc. Michael Hamilton was fired Thursday. Hamilton was charged with drunken driving after investigators say he crashed his unmarked police car on December 3.
Details are in city disciplinary memos provided to the Austin American-Statesman. The six other officers were suspended between
four and 15 days for drinking while on call, operating police vehicles after drinking alcohol and failing to report the actions to supervisors.
