District 11-5A Div I title on the line as College Station and A&M Consolidated collide Friday
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Friday night A&M Consolidated will host College Station in the biggest rivalry game in the city limits of Bryan/College Station this high school football season.
Besides bragging rights, which is always at stake, this season the District 11-5A Division I Championship hangs in the balance.
Since their season opening loss to Lovejoy - Stoney Pryor and the College Station Cougars have rolled off 7 straight wins and are in sole possession of first place in the district.
Meanwhile Brandon Schmidt and his A&M Consolidated Tigers are a game back in a second place tie with Georgetown. Since Consol’s loss to the Eagles in week 5 the Tigers have won 4 in a row.
Both teams know they have to be at their best to have a chance at winning.
“You know, their defense is outstanding, and they do a really good job of swarming to the ball. They stunt a lot and bring a lot of pressure and are really good on the back end as well. They have been very stingy, giving up yards and points defensively,” said College Station head football coach Stoney Pryor.
“Offensively they are scoring a ton of points and they are talented but I also think they’re extremely well coached. They are going to play fast on offense and going to see how many snaps they can get and defensively. We’ve got to be ready for the tempo that they are going to play at,” added A&M Consolidated head football coach Brandon Schmidt.
College Station has won all 5 meetings in the Neighborhood Knockdown including last year’s game 38-28.
2014 34-31 College Station
2015 4-17 College Station
2016 23-14 College Station
2017 28-17 College Station
2022 38-28 College Station
Kickoff is set for 7 P.M. at Tiger Field.
