EDGEMOOR, S.C. (WBTV/Gray News) - Authorities in South Carolina say they have made one of the largest drug busts in their history.

According to the Chester County Sheriff’s Office, deputies seized 3.7 pounds of fentanyl, 87 grams of crack cocaine and about 2 pounds of marijuana on Jan. 31.

The sheriff’s office said deputies also took 17 guns, two vehicles and over $91,000.

“These drugs had the potential to kill more than 800,000 people,” Chester County Sheriff Max Dorsey said. “These drugs are killing people throughout our country, and Chester County is no exception. Nevertheless -- our office will continue to use every resource available to eradicate every drug trafficker and dealer from Chester County.”

Travaris and Lamonica Dixon were arrested in the case and are facing charges that include trafficking fentanyl and cocaine along with possessing a weapon during a violent crime.

The sheriff’s office said its investigation remains active and the duo could face more charges.

“The lives of our citizens are too valuable to be wasted all because of selfish and money-hungry drug dealers wanting to prey on vulnerable people struggling with addiction,” Dorsey said. “I encourage families who know of people struggling with an opioid addiction to seek immediate help because any delay could come at a deadly cost.”
