COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M University launched its new partnership with a big tech company on Monday.

The Google Gemini and Texas A&M Partnership will provide A&M students, faculty, and staff with an abundance of AI resources they didn’t have before.

Google Gemini is a web-based chatbot that provides direct access to Google AI.

However, this partnership gives students, faculty, and staff a more secure alternative than the average consumer, since it is university-approved.

Google representatives, also known as “Googlers,” were on campus with pop-ups ready to interact with Aggies to show them how it works and the different resources they can now access.

The Google Gemini and Texas A&M partnership launch is September 22, 2025.

Debra Fowler, executive director of the Center for Teaching Excellence at Texas A&M, told KBTX that students can receive hands-on training on how to use Gemini tools.

“The students live here. They’re going out, they’re working, even, in jobs while they’re in school. What they learn, what they know, what the faculty learn. What they know is going to be, you know, transferred into the community,” Fowler explained.

Some new resources include text generation, language translation, creative content writing, and explanations on why a student may have gotten a question wrong. That’s only a few of the many capabilities.

“We know there’s multiple platforms out there that can be used for AI, and we want our students to be well-versed when they graduate because we know they’re going to be having to use it in the jobs that they go into,” said Fowler.

There will also be a Gemini Lunch & Learn event in Rudder Tower, Room 601. The event is specifically designed for Texas A&M faculty and staff, where they can learn how it can enhance their teaching.

Fowler says efficiency is very valuable for faculty and staff at Texas A&M. Not only can Google Gemini innovate the way teaching is done in the classroom, but it can also impact researchers.

According to Fowler, Google Gemini will help with collaboration and advancing research across the University System.

“We want them to be developing their own research, and we’re developing our own research, and then we want to make these connections. Again, these are the experts, and they go into conferences and meetings that we are not aware of where they make this collaboration,” Fowler added.

Google will be on Texas A&M’s campus all day on Monday to help students, faculty, and staff navigate Google Gemini.
