Perez Hilton’s family releases health update after blogger’s apparent self-harm TikTok livestream

MIAMI (Gray News) - Loved ones of celebrity blogger Perez Hilton’s are sharing further details following his hospitalization after appearing to be harming himself on a TikTok livestream

In a message posted to Hilton’s website, the blogger’s family thanked everyone for the support they have received since Hilton was taken to the hospital Tuesday night.

“Our family cannot express enough our continued gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received,” the statement read.

Loved ones said Hilton’s children were at home at the time of the medical call, along with their niece and sister.

“When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma,” the family statement continued.

The Hilton family called the situation difficult but said Hilton has been receiving medical care, and their focus is helping his children.

“Our highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced,” family shared in the statement. “An important part of that process is allowing them to safely return home and begin rebuilding a sense of security and normalcy.”

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to Hilton’s home following the reports of the blogger livestreaming acts of self-harm.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies worked to de-escalate the situation, with the person in question being taken to the hospital.

“The individual was safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention,” the sheriff’s office shared on Wednesday. “The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals were also on scene providing support and resources to the individual’s family.”

Hilton shared earlier this year in reports that he had suffered a medical scare that left him hospitalized for several weeks. He also said in June he had recently relocated to Miami from Las Vegas with his children.

The 48-year-old rose to prominence after launching his gossip blog in the early 2000s.
