At a time when national restaurant chains are pressured to boost sluggish sales, Applebee's is offering up a promotion that it hopes will bring in more customers.

Apple Texas, a franchise partner of Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar with 67 restaurants in the Lone Star State, will accept any and all gift cards, gift certificates, coupons, etc. at its restaurants, expired or not, from all businesses and brands during the month of March.

The promotion includes the College Station location on Texas Drive near University Avenue.

The Applebee’s offer is for up to 50% off of food purchases with any paper/plastic/printed coupon or gift card. The offer may not be combined with any other Applebee’s discounted offer and may not be applied to alcohol. Guests with additional questions are encouraged to call their neighborhood Applebee’s for more information.

“This idea started when we were discussing how we could be an even better neighbor in the communities we serve. We realized a number of people have either expired gift cards, gift certificates, or coupons, to places that they do not care to visit. So, we had the idea to accept these at all our neighborhood Applebee’s,” announced Chris Dharod, Chief Operating Officer of Apple Texas.

Recently Applebee's appointed John Cywinski as president of the struggling national chain. The restaurant is expected to close more than 40 locations across the nation over the course of this year.
