Bryan High floral design students make 800 mini mums with fourth graders

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Floral design students from Bryan High School made 800 mini mums with fourth graders this week as part of the school’s annual Mini Mums project, held in honor of Homecoming Week.

The students, part of Bryan High’s FFA department, visited nine elementary schools zoned to Bryan High to work with fourth graders on the project.

The floral design students explain the tradition of the homecoming mum and showed the elementary students some of their own mums. They then helped the fourth graders create their own smaller versions to wear.

Each fourth grader’s Mini Mum was unique, featuring their initial along with their choice of stickers and ribbons.

The Mini Mums may be visible at Bryan High’s Homecoming game Friday night, along with full-size versions worn by high school students.

The Bryan ISD Education Foundation funded the project’s supplies.
